Costume Party
We snapped a few pictures shortly before Clara and I headed to the costume party for carnival the other day. Since we were a little late, we used my iPhone to snap a few shots, that’s why the quality is not the best. I wanted to post them anyways, since we had so much fun in our matching mama daughter costumes.
I love to create costumes like this by myself. My mom used to create the coolest costumes for us with stuff we already had at home. I guess that’s why I’m not so much into buying a costume. To me the fun already starts while creating it.
Obviously I had the most fun with Clara’s nigiri sushi costume. I wanted her to wear something she can still easily play in. The prawn is made out of felt and I colored it in a few steps. I looooved doing her wasabi and pickled ginger headband and everybody was obsessed about it at the party. Yaaayyyy! 🙂
For my costume as a geisha the key clearly lies in the make up. But I still love the little details like the golden ornament I attached to the chopsticks in my hair, the white socks and the pareo I folded as a cushion and fixated to my back with the belt. I was a little hesitant of going full throttle with our costumes since I heard a lot of guests of the costume party are not so much into wearing a costume… (I know, why go to a costume party without wearing a costume… 😉 ) So, I decided to do it anyways. All or nothing, right!? 😉
Hope you like the pictures and I wish you a wonderful day!
